The First Florida Chapter MVPA was founded in 1981.  The club was incorporated as a Not - For - Profit Organization in December 1982.  The by - laws were completed and approved in December 1983.

The club's name came from the fact that it was the first MVPA chapter to be established in the state of Florida.  The founder expected the club to be divided into three separate clubs.  Instead, the club expanded statewide and has been divided by regions.
