Remembering Earle G. Byers


Earle G. Byers, 76 of Winter Park, passed away Thursday June 5 2008 at the Hospice House of the Comforter, Altamonte Springs.

Born June 21, 1931 in Dean in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was naturalized an American citizen when his family later moved to the United States.

After completing his education, Earle met his future wife Evelyn briefly before seeing combat while serving his country in Korea. Earle served in the 5th Regimental Combat Team, 5th Infantry Division US Army.

After returning they were married on October 7, 1956.

Earle and Evelyn both worked for RCA in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Later moving to Florida in 1968, leaving RCA in 1971 to pursue various business interests.

His passion for history prompted him to charter the First Florida Chapter of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. Earle served as its first President from 1982-88. He also held the office of treasurer for the MVPA.


Member of the Winter Park Masonic Lodge #239.

Survived by his wife Evelyn, son Alan (Melody), granddaughters Angela & Katrina and 4 great grandchildren.

The Memorial for Earle held on June 10, 2008. Several MVPA Members drove their MV's to honor Earle and his Family.
